Job Description

A leading design and fabrication company is seeking a Structural Fitter to assemble, align, and fit metal components according to blueprints and project specifications. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented fabrication professional with strong blueprint-reading skills and experience preparing structural components for final welding. Working under minimal supervision, this role plays a critical part in ensuring structural accuracy, quality, and production efficiency.

Salary: $20-25+/hr - DOE
Location: Magnolia, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Hours: Day shift 6:00 am-2:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, layout reference points, and fabrication drawings.
  • Assemble and fit plates and structural sections to form platforms, skids, pipe systems, handrails, and other structural components.
  • Measure, align, and position components to ensure proper fit-up prior to welding.
  • Layout, mark, and verify reference points for fabrication.
  • Use cutting torches, grinders, drills, and other fabrication tools.
  • Ensure all parts are labeled with part number, heat number, and job number prior to inspection.
  • Inspect own work for accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and job information.
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures at all times.

Requirements:
  • Experience fitting structural steel components (platforms, skids, pipe, angle handrail, etc.)
  • Strong blueprint-reading and layout skills
  • Familiarity with cutting torches, grinders, and drills
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, humid, and dusty environments
  • Knowledge of structural fabrication processes
  • Testing will be required
