Job Description

A well-established Houston-area manufacturing company is seeking a Material Handler to join the team. This is a temporary, on-site role supporting daily warehouse and production operations on a 2nd shift schedule. The Material Handler is responsible for safely moving materials throughout the facility, receiving and organizing incoming shipments, operating forklifts and overhead cranes, and preparing finished products for shipment.

Salary + Additional Benefits:

  • Shift Hours: M-F, 3:15 PM-1:15 AM; overtime as needed

Responsibilities:
  • Read job orders, work instructions, blueprints, and shipping documentation to ensure accurate material movement and order fulfillment.
  • Operate forklifts (6,500 lb., 12,000 lb., and up to 40,000 lb. capacity) to transport raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products throughout the facility.
  • Receive, inspect, unload, and organize incoming materials and inventory.
  • Stage, package, label, band, wrap, and prepare products for shipment.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records using computer systems and related documentation.
  • Organize work areas and storage locations to support efficient workflow and material accessibility.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and preventive maintenance checks, including fluid replenishment and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, pallet wrappers, banding equipment, and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement, quality initiatives, and operational goals.
  • Attend safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Work overtime as needed to support production demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or equipment operation preferred
  • Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification
  • Ability to operate forklifts up to 40,000 lb. capacity
  • Overhead crane experience preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints, job cards, work orders, and shipping documents
  • Basic computer skills for inventory and shipping documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach overhead, bend, stoop, and climb steps throughout the workday
