Job Description

A fast-growing oil and gas services company is seeking a Design Engineer to join the team. This role works as part of a design team developing mechanical systems from conceptual ideas through drawing, justification to codes and standards, manufacturing, testing and support of field technicians. The Design Engineer is responsible for developing new technologies and advancing existing products for the industry.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply Engineering principles to the design of machinery and equipment including mechanical systems, hydraulics, structural components and control systems.
  • Produce conceptual and detailed engineering equipment design and analysis using company design methods.
  • Prepare assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of material.
  • Ensure engineering design packages are in full compliance with customers' requirements and all relevant codes and standards.
  • Review client supplied technical data testing and or project execution.
  • Advise and/or instruct operations and manufacturing staff with respect to testing and assembly of equipment.
  • Design modifications of existing products to suit client requirements
  • Innovate new solutions to solve unique challenges a client may be experiencing
  • Assist with the training and development of Junior Design Engineers and Trainees
  • Maintais good working relationships internally with other departments and externally with clients
  • Prepare assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials
  • Attend client meetings as required, identifying design engineering requirements and processes to meet client needs
  • Adhere to project objectives, budget, schedules and deadlines

Requirements:
  • BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 - 10 years of relevant experience, within the Oil and Gas industry, subsea experience would be an advantage
  • Design experience from first principles
  • Design experience to ASME pressure vessel/pipeline codes and standards; B31.4, B31.8, B31.3, ASME VIII Div 1 and 2
  • Familiar with Process Plant or Pipeline interventions type work such as hot taps, line stops, welded fittings, repair clamps, isolations either inline or branch installed and temperature or corrosion considerations
  • Competence in 3D modelling and drafting. Proficient with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks 
  • Experienced and competent in checking engineering design packages
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
