Job Description
A leading company in the oil & gas industry is seeking an Inbound Material Handler (Put-Away & Slotting Specialist) to manage warehouse inventory put-away, slotting, and bin-location processes. This role takes received goods from the inbound dock and accurately maps, organizes, and stocks them into their designated storage locations using a forklift. Since a large percentage of parts look completely identical and share the same size, the Inbound Material Handler is responsible for exceptional visual focus and organizational skills to keep every warehouse location perfectly synchronized with the computer system.
Salary + Additional Benefits:
- $18.50/hour
- Opportunity for a pay increase upon successful conversion from temporary to full-time status
Location: Conyers, GA 30013
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Put away & Slotting: Transfer received inventory from the inbound dock to correct warehouse shelves, bins, and racks, ensuring everything is slotted in its exact right location.
- System & Location Verification: Verify that all items are placed exactly where the system states they should be, cross-referencing physical inventory against system data.
- System Location Management: Ensure all new, moved, or updated slotting and bin locations are accurately saved and updated in the computer system in real time.
- Cart Efficiency: Clear and put away inventory carts in an efficient, timely, and organized manner to prevent dock congestion.
- Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to transport large, heavy, or bulk inventory to designated storage areas.
- Small-Part Inspection: Read, verify, and match small, highly similar part numbers on identical-looking items before placing them into bins to prevent mixed inventory.
- Documentation & Data Entry: Maintain accurate quality logs and enter daily audit and slotting metrics into computer systems.
- Team Communication: Collaborate and communicate clearly with the receiving and picking teams to report any inventory discrepancies, layout issues, or labeling errors.
Requirements:
- Forklift Certification/Experience: Proven ability to safely operate a forklift in a tight, fast-paced warehouse environment
- Excellent Organizational Skills: Strong ability to logically organize inventory, manage space, and maintain flawless bin locations
- Advanced Visual Acuity: Exceptional ability to differentiate between highly similar parts and spot minute differences in alphanumeric part numbers
- High-Stress Resilience: Proven ability to maintain accuracy, speed, and composure under tight deadlines and peak inbound volume
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning warehouse database systems to save, track, and update inventory locations
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and maintain inventory accuracy
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for long periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- High dexterity required to handle, sort, and inspect small parts
