Job Description
A leading thermal energy management company is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the team. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with a company focused on sustainability technology for temperature-controlled facilities worldwide. The Controls Engineer is responsible for the development and programming of control hardware and integrating it with clients' existing refrigeration control systems.

Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Interface with client controllers using communication protocols.
- Develop controls, hardware, programming, and integration with the client's existing refrigeration systems via standard communication protocols such as APIs, Modbus, or BACnet.
- Manage the execution of the final interface design, installation, and commissioning, which will be performed in conjunction with qualified electricians, contractors, and the client's IT group.
- Perform IT administration, PLC integration, and cellular modem configuration.
- Develop a controls integration strategy, design specifications and estimate costs for installations.
- Work with the engineering team to accurately forecast potential energy savings and project costs.
- Program using languages such as Python on Linux operating systems.
- Work with the Sales and Production teams to achieve critical milestones and ensure seamless integration of controls for installations.
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience interfacing with client controllers using communication protocols
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science preferred; other degrees acceptable with relevant experience
- Fluent in English; Spanish fluency is a plus
- Must have effective time management skills, verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Available to travel up to 10% of the time, as required
