Job Description
An innovative, fast-growing small gas turbine technology company is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the team. This is an on-site role in the Katy area supporting a cross-functional engineering environment with a global supply chain. The Supplier Quality Engineer serves as the primary point of contact across Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Procurement to build a robust supply chain, develop suppliers, and ensure components and products meet the company's standards for capacity, capability, and cost.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead in multi-functional teams to develop and communicate First Article and Production Lot Quality plans, including planning, tracking, and reporting project achievements and resource requirements.
- Drive supplier identification, capability assessment audits, and standards development for new mechanical and electrical equipment and technology; typical products include gas turbine components, electrical equipment, heat exchangers, cast and machined components, piping, and related items.
- Serve as a key expert in improving and developing strategic suppliers and supporting critical technical issues as an owner of supplier process and product quality assurance.
- Perform new supplier assessments, pre-qualification capability assessments, and plan for onsite inspection of manufactured components.
- Identify, report, manage, and resolve quality issues related to non-conforming components identified at company and supplier facilities.
- Develop supplier inspection plans and supplier support procedures.
- Drive root cause and corrective actions.
- Audit suppliers to verify manufacturing methods, capabilities, and quality systems.
- Support supply chain capabilities to meet current and future requirements, supporting cost reduction opportunities and process improvements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent experience, in electrical, industrial engineering, or a similar field
- 3+ years of experience in supplier quality management or procurement, with professional experience in manufacturing engineering and/or supplier quality engineering qualifying suppliers for casting, machining, coating, welding, pipe fitting/joining, electrical systems, or advanced manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
- Expertise in drawing interpretation and collaboration with design engineering to ensure manufacturability
- Experience performing supplier qualification, product/process qualification, and technical supplier development to provide a global quality-assured and cost-effective supply base
- Experience leading projects and running virtual multi-functional teams in an international environment
- Willingness to travel up to 35-50% domestically and internationally
- Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Experience with gas turbines and/or rotating equipment a plus
