Job Description
A fast-growing distributor of air filtration and related products and services is seeking an Application Engineer to join the team. This newly created role reflects the company's continued growth and offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced engineers while collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Operations, suppliers, and customers. The Application Engineer supports the evaluation, selection, sizing, and proposal development of filtration and separation equipment for oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, and related process applications.

Responsibilities:
- Review customer inquiries, process data, specifications, datasheets, drawings, and P&IDs to define application requirements and identify missing or conflicting information.
- Perform equipment selection and sizing calculations for liquid-solid filtration, gas-solid filtration, gas-liquid coalescence, and liquid-liquid coalescence applications.
- Evaluate flow rate, pressure, temperature, fluid properties, contaminant loading, particle or droplet characteristics, separation requirements, pressure drop, and material compatibility.
- Prepare technical reports, equipment datasheets, calculation summaries, clarifications, exceptions, and supporting documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Select filter or coalescer elements, vessel configurations, materials of construction, seals, connections, closures, and accessories using approved engineering tools and product data.
- Coordinate technical inputs with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to support accurate scope definition, costing, scheduling, and execution.
- Respond to customer technical questions, participate in inquiry and project meetings, and communicate assumptions, limitations, exclusions, and technical risks clearly and professionally.
- Support purchase order handoff, document review, design changes, troubleshooting, and post sale technical inquiries while maintaining accurate calculation and decision records.
- Maintain current knowledge of company products, customer specifications, industry practices, and applicable codes and standards.
- Comply with company requirements related to quality, document control, confidentiality, and health, safety, and environmental performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline
- One to three years of engineering experience involving application engineering, process equipment, filtration, separation, oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, or a related industrial field. Relevant internship or cooperative experience may be considered
- Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, mass transfer, and process equipment as applied to filtration and separation systems
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, process datasheets, and equipment specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn company sizing tools, product selection systems, and document control processes
- Strong analytical, technical writing, organizational, and communication skills; attention to accuracy and detail; and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate across departments
