Job Description

A fast-growing, engineering services company is seeking a Director, Total Rewards to join the team. This hybrid role is a global HR leadership position based in the Galleria area reporting to the VP of Human Resources. The Director of Total Rewards leads compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring programs align with business objectives while supporting employee attraction, retention, and engagement. This role oversees compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee recognition programs, manages U.S. and Canadian benefits administration, and partners with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver competitive, compliant, and cost-effective total rewards programs. The Director also provides leadership to the Compensation and Benefits team and drives continuous improvement across all total rewards initiatives.

Salary + Additional Benefits:

  • $180,000-$200,000
  • STIP: 30%
  • LTIP: eligible in 2027

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement compensation and benefits strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and business leaders to support organizational objectives.
  • Oversee all U.S. employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, and 401(k) plans, with support for Canadian benefits.
  • Manage annual open enrollment, benefits administration, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, 5500 reporting).
  • Ensure accurate administration of employee benefit changes, leaves, claims, retirement plans, and related documentation.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, costs, and market trends to recommend plan improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead benefits renewals and support broker negotiations with insurance carriers.
  • Oversee benefits audits, reporting, billing reconciliation, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage compensation programs, including salary structures, market pricing, incentive plans, and job evaluations.
  • Ensure fair and competitive pay practices through market analysis, salary surveys, and internal equity reviews.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of job families, salary bands, and compensation policies.
  • Guide salary adjustment processes and ensure compliance with applicable compensation laws and regulations.
  • Lead performance management and employee recognition programs, recommending enhancements based on business needs and industry best practices.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure high-quality service and cost-effective program delivery.
  • Provide guidance and training to HR and business leaders on compensation and benefits programs, policies, and best practices.
  • Lead and develop the compensation and benefits team while driving continuous process improvements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in Total Rewards, specifically managing compensation and benefits plans and teams
  • SHRM-CP and CEBS professional designations preferred
  • Experience supporting global or multi-jurisdictional operations
  • Experience in organizational design, transformation, or large-scale HR initiatives
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR strategy, employee relations, talent management, organizational development, and employment law
  • Strong understanding of HR operations, service delivery models, and how HR systems and processes interconnect
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to partner effectively with executives and regional leaders
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and organizational change
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including coaching, team development, and building high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills including planning, prioritizing, and risk management
