Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Service Delivery
- Manage the IT Manager - Systems & Applications, including goal setting, performance reviews, development planning, and coverage scheduling.
- Establish and report service level targets for the service desk, and own incident, request, change, and problem management, serving as senior escalation for major incidents.
- Define and enforce infrastructure and end-user standards -- hardware models, imaging and provisioning, configuration baselines, and documentation -- and the approval workflows that user access provisioning is executed against.
- Build team redundancy through cross-training and documented runbooks so that no individual or provider is a single point of failure.
- Own our client's network architecture end to end -- LAN, WAN, wireless, firewalls, VPN and remote access, segmentation, routing, DNS/DHCP, and IP address management.
- Personally configure, tune, and troubleshoot core network and security infrastructure, and maintain the compute, storage, virtualization, backup, and cloud environment.
- Own Microsoft 365 and Entra ID tenant configuration, including conditional access, multifactor authentication, device compliance, endpoint management, and email security.
- Maintain a rolling multi-year infrastructure roadmap, current network documentation and asset inventories, and the IT operating and capital budgets, business cases, and AFEs, including buildouts and cutovers for new, relocated, or acquired facilities.
- Own connectivity design and reliability for shop, yard, manufacturing, including redundant paths, and site-appropriate hardware.
- Specify and deploy ruggedized and industrial-grade networking and wireless coverage suited to shop, yard, and outdoor environments.
- Support connectivity and segmentation for shop-floor and operational technology systems -- machine tools, inspection and test equipment, scanning and asset-tracking systems, and physical security and camera systems -- partnering with Operations and Manufacturing on requirements.
- Partner with Operations leadership to prioritize site-level infrastructure investment against operational impact; travel to locations to assess and remediate conditions firsthand.
- Own the relationship, scope, and performance of our client's managed service providers; define what is delivered by the MSP versus retained in house and identify and optimize discovered gaps and duplication.
- Negotiate and administer statements of work, service level agreements, and renewals; review invoices against contracted scope and reconcile billed hours and assets to actual consumption.
- Run a structured provider governance cadence, including quarterly business reviews with reported metrics, open issues, and root cause trends, and escalate or recommend replacement of underperforming providers with a documented transition plan.
- Manage telecom, circuit, cloud, hardware, and software vendors and third-party integration partners, and drive cost reduction and license rationalization.
- Execute and operate infrastructure security controls -- network segmentation, firewall and perimeter policy, endpoint protection, email security, privileged access, logging, and patch and vulnerability management.
- Serve as the primary infrastructure counterpart to the Director of IT Audit and our client's third-party cybersecurity/virtual CISO provider; implement, evidence, and remediate the controls and findings they define, and lead the technical response to infrastructure and network security incidents.
- Own backup and recovery architecture and the IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Provide evidence, system-generated reports, and walkthrough support for SOX ITGC testing, internal and external audits, bank field exams, cyber insurance questionnaires, and customer security assessments, and ensure infrastructure changes follow documented change management.
- Various other special projects and Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field required; equivalent experience with a demonstrated record of infrastructure ownership considered in lieu of a degree
- Professional certification strongly preferred -- CCNP or CCNA, Microsoft Azure Administrator or Identity and Access Administrator, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, CompTIA Network+/Security+, or comparable
- Minimum 10 years of progressive information technology experience, including at least 7 years focused on network and infrastructure engineering and 5+ years leading technical staff and/or outsourced providers
- International experience required
- Public company experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ownership of a multi-site enterprise WAN, VPN, and redundant circuit design -- with hands-on engineering depth in enterprise routing and switching, next-generation firewalls, wireless, and network monitoring
- Hands-on administration of Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID, Windows Server, and virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V), together with direct experience managing managed service providers, including enforcing scopes of work and service levels and controlling recurring spend
- Prior experience in Oil & Gas Upstream Services, industrial manufacturing, or another multi-site, asset-intensive industry highly preferred, including public company IT general control environments
- Able to move between designing a multi-year infrastructure roadmap and personally resolving a production outage
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with ability to isolate root cause across network, system, application, and vendor boundaries
- Able to translate technical risk and investment decisions into business terms for a finance-led executive audience, including cost, downtime, and risk exposure; excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective at holding vendors and service providers accountable and at developing technical staff, with the discipline to maintain current network diagrams, configuration standards, runbooks, asset inventories, and change records
- Periodic travel (estimated 15-25%) to domestic and international operating locations, including shop, yard, and field sites
Due to the high volume of applications we typically receive, we regret that we are not able to personally respond to all applications. However, if you are invited to take the next step in the process, you will typically be contacted within one week of submitting your application.
