A well-established Houston-area industrial controls company serving the turbomachinery industry is seeking a Control Panel Wireman to join the team. The company provides products, solutions, and technical services supporting diesel and natural gas engines as well as steam and gas turbine control systems. The Control Panel Wireman is responsible for the assembly, installation, troubleshooting and repair of controls and electrical systems.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, symbols, and systems.
• Study drawings, schematics, manuals, software, and other pertinent information to determine the best solution and proper tools for system setup and/or problem resolution.
• Perform wiring modifications and repairs.
• Perform retrofits to existing electrical panels.
• Troubleshoot controls and instrumentation circuits.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair turbine and engine governing and protection systems.
• Repair electrical system problems using a variety of electrical equipment, metering and testing devices, machines and tools.
• Install, terminate, and label cables in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Diagnose and repair the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLC's), plant or distribution control systems, instrument loops, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, and level probes.
• Diagnose and repair the cause of electric and electric systems control malfunctions of equipment such as transformers, relays, switches, transmitters, generators and controls systems, low and medium voltage distribution systems, and monitoring devices.
• Consult with engineering staff to define the scope of work for projects.
• Consult with engineering to resolve problems in order to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Provide technical support to customers when required.
• Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.
• Assist in the development of standards, procedures, manuals and training programs for the engineering and technical work performed.
• Maintain a working knowledge of safety practices to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
• Participate in project and lessons learned meetings with engineering, sales and customers.
• Support with shipping and receiving, QA/QC, and Safety.

• Technical certification or equivalent
• Seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
• Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
• Ability to communicate, written and oral, effectively with clients and other members of the staff
• Detail-oriented
• Knowledge of MS Office: Excel, Word, Power Point. Auto-CAD knowledge is a plus
• Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong desire for continued growth and learning
