Job Description

A well-established Houston-area industrial controls company serving the turbomachinery industry is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to join the team. This role supports the shipping and receiving of products at the company's facility and will maintain accurate and proactive control of inventory. The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for shipping and receiving operations and may also handle tasks such as loading and unloading products, stacking up shelves, inspecting merchandise and communicating with vendors and/or clients.

Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM


Responsibilities:
  • Keep records of all products shipped and received in a warehouse setting.
  • Process all shipping and receiving transactions and paperwork.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating domestic and international freight forwarder transactions.
  • Manage transportation routing via third-party logistics providers, to include utilizing web-based applications to schedule shipments.
  • Pack products according to shipping instructions.
  • Print mailing labels and shipping documents.
  • Ensure that all orders have been filled correctly.
  • Ensure that proper equipment, manuals, and accessories are shipped with correct order.
  • Must be able to process customer orders using the company's GP system.
  • Check inventory status for orders to ensure product is available and is in shippable status.
  • Accurately and efficiently pull and distribute materials and various stock items to fulfill requests and work orders.
  • Create Bills of Lading in preparation of customer order pick-up.
  • Inspect incoming shipments per purchase order and/or packing slip at time of receiving, but no later than 24 hours of receipt.
  • Offload cargo and notate discrepancies, documenting and obtaining photo proof (visual damages, missing cargo, etc.).
  • Coordinate customer orders with internal departments.
  • Maintain traffic log.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment like forklift and packing machinery as required and inform immediately if service and/or repairs are needed.
  • Track and manage inventory by completing regular cycle counts.
  • Maintain inventory records and databases.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Assist in maintaining safety and housekeeping standards in shipping area.
  • Perform required administrative tasks; prepare all required reports and correspondence.
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents as per the established security guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or related trade school education
  • Bilingual fluent in English & Spanish
  • 4+ years in warehouse shipping and receiving experience or equivalent
  • Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods
  • Working knowledge in supply chain management
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Ability to use and operate a forklift
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate, written and oral, effectively with clients and other staff members
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Ability to think analytically, apply sound judgment, and solve problems
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety practices to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner
  • Must have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
