A well-established Houston-area manufacturing company is seeking an Extrusion Operator to join the team. This role is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of machinery that shapes metal by forcing it through a die at high temperatures. The Extrusion Operator monitors the extrusion process, controls temperatures, and adjusts machine settings to produce quality products, while also promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities

• Set up and operate hydraulic extrusion equipment.
• Adhere to internal procedures to ensure accurate fabrication of pressure-retaining components.
• Perform hands-on tasks using hydraulic presses to support workflow and maintain quality standards; set up dies and operate extrusion presses.
• Work safely by consistently adhering to extrusion procedures and company standards.
• Monitor the progress and performance of extrusion operations, identifying and addressing delays, quality concerns, or safety risks.
• Conduct inspections of completed parts to verify compliance with internal specifications and industry standards.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by modeling best practices and ensuring proper use of PPE and extrusion equipment.
• Collaborate with other shop personnel and cross-functional teams to optimize workflow and resolve production issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped work area, ensuring all extrusion tools and equipment are properly maintained.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to extrusion processes, training, and safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Extrusion Lead.

• Comply with all company and/or client quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
• Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or hazards to your manager or foreman and complete the required documentation.
• Do not perform any task unless you have been properly trained and authorized to do so - when in doubt, stop and ask.

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment using various types of equipment
• Hot metal extrusion knowledge / header extrusion knowledge
• Competent in fitting and assembling components with precision and minimal supervision
• Able to troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend practical, safe solutions
• Experienced in maintaining manufacturing / extrusion equipment
• Understanding basic hydraulics and extrusion presses
• Strong communication skills
• Proven ability to uphold safety standards, quality control, and production targets
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of machinery and the ability to trouble shoot and address operational issues efficiently
• Prior manufacturing or hot metal extrusion experience
• 3-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with some hot metal extrusion experience
• Self-motivated, dependable, and demonstrates strong leadership under pressure
