Job Description

A leading company in the automation and controls industry is seeking an Item Master Specialist to join the team. This is a stable, innovative, and collaborative, team-oriented environment. The Item Master Specialist is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and governance of product item data within the company's systems, ensuring product definitions are accurate, complete, and ready for use across quoting, order management, and supply chain execution.

Responsibilities: 

Item Data Creation & Governance 

  • Create and maintain item records across ERP and related systems. 

  • Validate required attributes including classification, sourcing, and commercial details. 

  • Ensure adherence to taxonomy, naming standards, and governance rules. 

  • Support item release readiness for use in CPQ, order management, and downstream processes. 

Data Quality & Issue Resolution 

  • Identify and resolve routine master-data defects. 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to correct data inconsistencies. 

  • Execute approved changes while maintaining audit integrity. 

  • Support data quality improvement initiatives. 

Operational Support 

  • Manage item creation and update queues to meet service level expectations. 

  • Support high-volume transactional data environments. 

  • Coordinate with supply chain and engineering on new product introductions. 

 

Requirements: 

  • 3+ years of ERP item master, product data, or master data management experience, including creating and maintaining item records in a structured system environment 

  • Strong data accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to validate attributes, identify inconsistencies, and follow established governance standards 

  • Working understanding of supply chain, DRP, quoting, order management, and downstream business processes that rely on complete and accurate item data 

  • Ability to manage high-volume workflows, prioritize requests, meet service level expectations, and maintain quality while working through competing deadlines 

  • Experience supporting industrial, engineered product, or technical product environments where item attributes, classifications, sourcing details, and commercial data must be carefully maintained 

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools or automation concepts, with an interest in using emerging technology to improve data quality, workflow efficiency, and issue resolution 

  • Effective cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to partner across operations, supply chain, engineering, commercial, and systems teams to resolve data issues and support process improvements
