Job Description

A stable, industry-leading sales and service center specializing in foundation engineering equipment is seeking a Field Service Technician to join the team. This is a very busy, fast-paced environment with significant field travel and strong overtime earning potential. The Field Service Technician is responsible for conducting technical diagnosis and repair of heavy foundation engineering equipment at company facilities, customer sites, and business partner locations across the U.S. and internationally.

Salary + Additional Benefits:

  • $55-60/hr
  • Significant overtime opportunity; 100-130 hours worked per bi-weekly period is typical

Location: Hybrid - Livermore, CA
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct technical diagnoses and repairs of foundation engineering equipment at company facilities, customer sites, and business partner locations.
  • Receive customer service requests; assess customer needs, complaints, and equipment symptoms; diagnose issues and suggest repair solutions to the Technical Service Manager based on customer needs and resource availability.
  • Perform effective hands-on shop and field service repairs.
  • Research and determine spare parts needs; suggest spare parts packages.
  • Provide effective and efficient technical assistance in person and by phone.
  • Resolve product issues through identification, documentation, and communication with all affected parties.
  • Complete Service and Yard/Damage reports as required.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external parties.
  • Assist in maintaining technical manuals.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree in a mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical machinery-related field, or equivalent post-secondary credential desired
  • Minimum 2 years of directly related training and/or experience
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, flow charts, maintenance schedules, and related documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work overtime (California: overtime applies after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week), weekends, and on-call duty as needed
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%, including internationally; travel time counts from departure from home
  • Must possess a valid passport and driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; stand, sit, kneel, crawl, climb, and perform physical tasks required to travel and work independently
