A prominent Japanese food and retail company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Human Resources to lead our HR department. As we continue to expand our operations in the US market, we are seeking a talented individual to ensure that our HR strategies align with our company's mission and values.
Role Overview: The Vice President of Human Resources will play a critical role in shaping the HR function to support the growth and success of our company. This role requires a seasoned HR professional who can lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that foster a positive workplace culture, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and align with our Japanese heritage.
Responsibilities:

  • Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and guidelines that reflect the company's values, ensure legal compliance, and promote a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Employee Handbook: Create and regularly update the employee handbook, ensuring that it effectively communicates company policies, benefits, expectations, and code of conduct to all employees.
  • Alignment with US Policies: Collaborate with global HR teams to ensure that US HR policies and procedures align with the overall company policies while taking into account regional and cultural differences.
  • Benefits Programs: Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health, wellness, retirement, and other offerings that enhance the employee experience and support employee well-being.
  • Operational Know-How (P&L): Develop a deep understanding of the company's financial goals and strategies, and align HR initiatives to contribute positively to the company's bottom line. Monitor and analyze HR-related financial data, providing insights to senior leadership.
  • Integration: Lead HR integration efforts during mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth onboarding of new employees while preserving the company's values and culture.
  • Challenging the Norm: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the HR department and across the organization. Encourage creative solutions to HR challenges and inspire a willingness to challenge conventional thinking.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide strategic leadership to the HR team, nurturing their growth and professional development. Lead by example and foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure the company's HR practices remain compliant and effective.
  • Employee Relations: Address and resolve employee relations issues, conflicts, and concerns in a fair, timely, and confidential manner.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with a proven track record of successfully developing and implementing HR strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of US labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Experience in the food/retail industry or a related field is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, think critically, and drive innovative HR solutions.
  • Experience with HR technology and systems.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to align HR initiatives with business goals.

Salary + Additional Benefits:
