Pay Rate:
- $60-75/hr
Location:Â Houston, TX
Type of Position: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Process certain capital assets information that is used to process the U.S. corporate consolidated tax return.
- Prepare the return to provision and deferred tax reconciliation for review by the Tax Manager and act as the lead contact to outside accounting firm reviewing the deferred tax position.
- Assist the Tax Manager in processing various state income, franchise, and federal compliance matters.
- Prepare the monthly tax provision and posts journal entries reviewed by the Tax Manager.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and record journal entries as necessary.
- Prepare sales and use tax information on a timely basis.
- Prepare federal excise tax returns on a quarterly basis.
- Maintain SOX documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Understand base erosion and anti-avoidance (BEPS) rules and documentation.
- Participate in various planning and forecasting projects for the U.S. Division.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- A minimum five years of progressive Oil and Gas industry tax experience with additional experience in public accounting experience in the tax department preferred
- In-depth experience in all aspects of both federal and state tax compliance in a multi-state, multi-corporation, computerized environment
- Must possess knowledge of federal and state income tax laws, state franchise tax laws, excise tax laws, and IFRS and GAPP
- Must have the ability to combine knowledge of tax laws and skills in using computer software to produce returns which comply with federal and state laws, including OneSource Tax and BNA Fixed Asset Manager
- OneSource Income Tax, SAP, and SAP reporting platform experience required
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Must be able to work onsite at Houston office to train during first two weeks and able to work onsite once per month in the following months
