Our client, a specialty maintenance services company, in West Houston is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their busy team!

The Staff Accountant will support the Controller in meeting the daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities of the Finance/Accounting department. This role interacts with operating department managers, accounting department personnel and other employees to answer questions related to all aspects of finance, accounting, and payroll. This role requires an experienced professional who can manage multiple priorities, communicate at a high level, and maintain confidentiality.

Location: West Houston, 77024
Salary: $70,000-$80,000 DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day to day maintenance of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analyses to support the accuracy of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
  • Perform payroll processing activities. Prepare weekly and semi-monthly payroll in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with operating procedures, federal/state tax withholding requirements.
  • Review, approve, and ensure proper coding of subcontractor/vendor invoices for assigned jobs.
  • Perform WIP job cost tracking, analysis, and reporting.
  • Compile, reconcile, complete, and maintain accurate job billing files to ensure timely monthly billings.
  • Track, manage, and report on receivables to assist with AR payment applications and weekly cash flow forecasts for assigned jobs.
  • Perform general job accounting administration and monthly financial closing tasks to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing requirements and deadlines.
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting 
  • 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
  • Vista Viewpoint experience
  • Experience setting up wire and ACH payments
  • Experience in multi state sales and use tax
  • Strong experience in reconciliations
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach and a keen attention to detail and accuracy
