Job Description

A leading manufacturing company specializing in stud welding products is seeking a Technician - Repair/Service to manage equipment maintenance, repairs, and customer support. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in troubleshooting and customer service. Communicating effectively, the new team member will ensure operational efficiency by coordinating rentals and repairs, documenting service activities, and maintaining quality standards while fostering strong relationships with clients and supporting other departments as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Rentals:
  • Check all incoming and outgoing equipment for correct operation and damage, tag, and document in written form as prescribed by Management. Where customer damaged, contact and invoice repair.
  • Check rentals list for equipment availability weekly, document and ensure invoiced.
  • Maintain rental equipment, this includes cleaning.
  • Generate work order for rental machine repair where required.
  • Get rentals ready for collection, provide serial numbers to Sales Team within 6-8 working hours of request or immediately with asap customer requests.
  • Repairs:
  • Identify with tags, differentiate between company owned and customer owned, document in written form. Store neatly and tidily in prescribed areas.
  • Check equipment for source of fault, create quote and send to customer, undertake repairs when customer gives go ahead in written form (no verbal requests, must be in written form).
  • Ensure all repairs are invoiced timely and correctly (timely: within week of repair completion).
  • Where repair is not possible, quote new or if available used from rentals.
  • Document repairs in short written form, this helps in identifying trends where same components are being replaced/repaired too often and may indicate a manufacturing or user/application issue.
  • Perform on-site repairs.
  • Customer support (Onsite/phone/video conferencing).
  • Maintain rapport with customers, develop relationships.
  • Respond within 24 hours of request, even if just to acknowledge and provide estimated repair time.
  • Suggest procurement of equipment and materials, supplies and parts required to maintain repair department.
  • Automation:
  • Expert in automation application for HBS manufactured CNC machines, components being used in automatic application. (First training provided by HBS Bolzenschweiss-Systeme).
  • Maintain CNC machines and components being used in-house for production and/or showroom demonstration, document in written form.
  • Customer support (onsite, phone, video conferencing).
  • Commissioning/Installation/Repair: Document in written form all work related to repairs, including time.
  • Train team in the use of CNC machines and components.
  • Component testing, trials, and demonstrations.
  • Generate invoices, ensure accuracy of same.
  • Production and Premises Maintenance:
  • Keep manufacturing equipment fully operational by following operating instructions, manufacturers recommendations, troubleshooting breakdowns and organizing repairs where necessary (proceed with repairs only after management has given ok in written form) maintain supplies, perform preventative maintenance and document in written form.
  • Maintain and log (in logbook) backup generator to ensure operable when power is lost.
  • Suggest procurement of more efficient equipment and materials, supplies and parts to maintain manufacturing tempo with same resulting quality.
  • Stud Welding Equipment Operation:
  • Demonstrate correct equipment use and capabilities to customers.
  • Get equipment ready and provide hands-on stud welding training on a regular basis, to be ready by the time training starts.
  • Fully responsible for Showroom, ensure all equipment including accessories and consumables are readily available in Showroom this includes test material and studs.
  • Stud Welding Application Consultation:
  • Undertake test welds for customers, this is to be documented with pictures/videos and (WPS) welding procedure specification. (Template: AWS_N-9_Stud_Welding_Procedure_Specification_(WPS)_Form – location: Templates & Forms)
  • Machine and gun settings to be clearly written under each weld so customers can visibly see differences between the different settings.
  • General:
  • Handle all customer complaints, questions, concerns in a professional manner.
  • Keep job knowledge updated by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.
  • Storm and Emergency preparation when required, especially during hurricane season and in winter when temperatures expected to be below freezing.
  • Equipment being sold and shipped out: Test for correct operation, put together sets, gun set-up for stud/s being shot, document for traceability.
  • Equipment being used for demonstration/training: Test for correct operation, ensure all components asked for are available by the time requested.
  • Company truck: Document and organize maintenance as per manufacturer’s instructions, get go ahead from Management in writing before scheduling for checkups/repairs/maintenance.
  • Company forklift: Ensure maintained as per lease/contract agreement and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Quality Control: Undertake random testing of incoming and outgoing goods on a regular basis (regular: bi-weekly) document in writing.
  • Cooperate and share information openly across the organization.
  • When purchasing spare parts, repair parts coordinate with Inside Sales to consolidate orders where possible.
  • Coordinate repair/rework/maintenance to obtain optimum utilization of equipment to prevent/alleviate operational delays in other departments.
  • Contribute to team effort as needed.
