Job Description

An industry leader in advanced modular energy solutions is seeking a Senior Vice President of Accounting to lead accounting operations and ensure regulatory compliance in a dynamic industry. The ideal candidate is a seasoned financial executive with expertise in public company requirements, SOX compliance, and complex manufacturing. Working cross-functionally, the new leader will enhance financial transparency by driving operational excellence, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering collaboration across departments.

Salary + Additional Benefits:
  • $345,000 - $400,000 + 35% Bonus
  • Profit Sharing

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Accounting Leadership
    • Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and tax compliance.
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and disclosures in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements.
    • Direct the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including Form 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Oversight
    • Oversee the implementation and documentation of internal control to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
    • Collaborate with internal audit, external auditors, and cross-functional teams to identify and remediate control deficiencies
    • Continuously assess and improve the company’s SOX framework to align with evolving regulatory and business needs.
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Serve as a key member of the senior executive team, contributing to corporate strategy and decision-making.
    • Advise the CFO, CEO, and Board of Directors on accounting matters, risk management and financial performance.
    • Align accounting policies and practices with the company’s long-term business goals and regulatory mandates.
  • Team Management and Development
    • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Develop and implement professional development plans to enhance technical skills and leadership capabilities within the department.
  • Regulatory and Industry Compliance
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the nuclear power industry, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations.
    • Stay current on changes in accounting standards, SEC reporting requirements, and other relevant regulatory updates.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Drive process improvements and leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
    • Oversee the adoption and integration of advanced accounting systems and tools.

Requirements:  
  • A minimum of a B.S. degree in Accounting and a licensed Certified Public Accountant is required
  • A minimum of 20 years progressively responsible experience in accounting with at least 5 of those years in a leadership role within an accounting organization audited by a PCAOB Annually Inspected firm is required
  • At least 5 years of experience as a controller, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
  • Experience in a SOX 404(b) compliant publicly traded company
  • Experience in amid-cap listed start-up environment preferred
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
  • Job Requirements: In-office role (no remote)
  • Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers
  • Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment

  • Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1
