Job Description

An established company focused on infrastructure assets is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to oversee the risk management of chemical plant enhancements, daily operations, and onsite process consistency and safety. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of process engineering and technological concepts. Collaborating with the team, the new member will develop and implement strategies for process enhancement, focusing on efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and safety, all in alignment with the company's established procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to operations and ensure short-term and long-term objectives for the plant are consistently progressed and successfully met.
  • Work with the Operations Manager and all levels of employees onsite to deliver new, innovative, safe, and reliable performance solutions and production improvements. 
  • Translate guidelines and standards into practice, troubleshoot and solve technical issues, and recommend cost-effective solutions to problems within the plant.
  • Establish process design basis for chemical projects.
  • Design, create, and modify process flow diagrams (PFD) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) drawings for the plant.
  • Perform process models, hydraulic calculations, and simulations.
  • Develop instrument data sheets and specifications, complete documentation for work activities.
  • Participate in client hazard and operability reviews and process hazard analysis reviews.
  • Lead and participate in cross functional project teams to mitigate risk for the organization.
  • Support turnaround and any major maintenance activities onsite.
  • Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
  • Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
  • Perform other related process engineering duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technical (ABET) institution, master’s degree preferred
  • Ten or more years providing engineering support to continuous processing plants in the chemical or petrochemical industry, polymer experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills required to oversee projects with a thorough understanding of engineering principles
  • Demonstrated expertise in process engineering and technology principles
  • Experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities desired
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find a solution for or deal proactively with work related problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams
  • Fundamental knowledge of chemical manufacturing equipment and components
  • Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, vendors, and with colleagues throughout the organization
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to meet company and departmental goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines
  • Thorough understanding of how to use and troubleshoot a distributed control system (DCS)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment drawings, safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines
  • Must have a strong understanding of properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment
  • Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail
