Job Description

A global innovator in the oil and gas industry is looking for a Senior Accountant responsible for the performance of the financial closing process and ensuring product cost and margin analysis and deadlines are met. The ideal candidate has an in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, best practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Working closely with the CFO, the new team member will meet the company’s financial objectives by effectively implementing accounting methods, processes, and procedures while ensuring the highest level of accuracy and efficiency.

Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing GAAP financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes.
  • Contribute to daily and monthly accounting activities, including accounts reconciliations and reviewing and adjusting journal entries.
  • Support team's efforts for budgeting and forecasting and be able to analyze report variances.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Handle the company’s transactions and debts and do cash flow forecasting.
  • Assist with the company’s financial audits.
  • Develop and analyze cost standards.
  • Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances, and work order variances.
  • Collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor usage, and scrap.
  • Examine manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Record and examine changes in goods and services and determine the effects on cost.
  • Create reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Collect and analyze data about the company’s operational costs.
  • Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability, and utilization.
  • Perform month-end cost accounting close.
  • Analyze inventory valuations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area with 5 or more years of hands-on accounting experience
  • Proven working experience as a Senior Accountant
  • 2-3 years of cost accounting work experience
  • Experience utilizing cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable
  • Eager problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
  • Solid understanding of QuickBooks Online Advance
  • Previous experience with MRPeasy is a plus
  • Demonstrated technology and analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing/ cost accounting
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data
