Job Description

A leading company in the oil & gas industry is looking for a Senior Accountant to manage a wide range of accounting operations and financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, ERP system experience, and a background in public or general accounting. Working cross-functionally, the new leader will strengthen financial operations by managing core accounting activities, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping while facilitating cross-team collaboration, maintaining account integrity, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Support monthly close processes by preparing journal entries and conducting detailed general ledger reviews for assigned accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements to meet both internal management and external reporting requirements across various timeframes (monthly, quarterly, etc.).
  • Review and analyze revenue recognition, including adjustments for unbilled activity, credits, and applicable revenue deductions.
  • Generate routine and ad hoc financial reports to provide insights that aid in operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Manage intercompany account reconciliations and ensure alignment between corporate entities.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial data by reconciling sub-ledgers and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of applicable tax filings, including sales/use tax, and initiate related payments.
  • Monitor and record daily cash activity, ensuring accurate and timely application of receipts.
  • Prepare key daily and monthly business performance reports.
  • Support reporting and reconciliation of receivables and revenue, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
  • Apply intercompany payments and assist with related reconciliations using ERP systems.
  • Contribute to special initiatives and cross-functional projects as directed by leadership.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (CPA certification preferred or actively pursuing)
  • 4–6 years of experience in public accounting or general accounting roles
  • Experience with ERP systems; Oracle and OBIEE experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and computer skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
