Job Description

A rapidly growing company is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage financial operations and ensure the integrity of financial records. Working closely with the executive leadership, the new leader will enhance operational efficiency by optimizing financial processes, enhancing strategic decision-making, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across financial operations.

Location: East Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:

Assist in managing the month-end close, ensuring timely preparation and accuracy of financial reports, including the Profit & Loss statement (P&L), Balance Sheet (BS), and Cash Flow statement.
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring they align with accounting standards and provide insights into financial performance.
Perform account reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded, in line with company policies and accounting principles.
Provide input and support in preparing annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projections. Analyze variances between actual results and projections and assist in addressing any financial discrepancies.
Analyze financial data to assist senior leadership in identifying trends, performance metrics, and areas of improvement. Support the Controller in strategic financial decision-making.
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and monitoring of internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations and safeguard company assets.
Work closely with different departments to gather financial data and provide support in resolving any accounting-related queries. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of department expenses and other financial transactions.
Assist in preparing documentation and supporting materials for audits, ensuring all financial records are in good standing and easily accessible.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and ensure that financial reporting is streamlined and effective.
Ensure that all financial documentation is accurately recorded and systematically organized for easy retrieval and reference.
Contribute to ad-hoc financial projects and special analyses as needed, providing relevant data and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, helping them understand financial processes and improving their skills for professional development.

Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
5+ years of finance and accounting experience
Experience within the industrial services or construction industries are a huge plus!
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Project management skills and the ability to deliver results in a dynamic, high-paced environment
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
CPA designation preferred, not required
