Job Description

A well-established independent oilfield services company is looking for a Sandblaster to perform sandblasting operations associated with the production of inflatable or swellable packers and other downhole tools. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of sandblasting techniques and a keen attention to detail. Location: Houston, TX 77092
Shift: 1st shift (6am-2:30pm)
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Operate the sandblaster/blast booth, lifting devices, and overhead crane according to guidelines.
  • Prepare metal parts by sandblasting areas on tools per print.
  • Apply bonding agent on tools where indicated per print.
  • Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfaces.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, engineering specifications, and written process procedures.
  • Interpret and follow posted production schedules.
  • Work with labor and materials traceability documentation and guidelines, such as ISO 9001.
  • Work with electronic labor reporting/job progress scanning.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements:
  • Require one year certificate from college or technical school and/or minimum of three to five years related experience as outlined above with prior assembly experience as well as material handling preferred
  • Must be able to read blueprints and tape measure
  • Knowledge in sandblasting
  • Attention to details
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic to intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word, Excel, ERP, and MRP systems
  • Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail
  • Ability to work under close supervision
  • Ability to read and understand instructions as they pertain to machinery operation or departmental tasks
  • Should be familiar with OSHA regulations and able to recognize and read Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS) and Hazardous Materials Information System (HMIS) labels
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write and/or complete routine reports
  • Proficient in math
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
