Job Description
A worldwide leader in the manufacturing & distribution industry is looking for a Safety Manager to provide safety and compliance support to its personnel. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with extensive knowledge of safety policies and applicable OSHA standards. Collaborating with management, the new leader will meet/exceed operational objectives by developing and optimizing safety management processes while maintaining compliance with regulatory policies & procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Provide safety and compliance support to company personnel.
- Manage the safety program and implement revisions to the Safety Manual as necessary.
- Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Ensure completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the safety committees.
- Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards and manage training records.
- Review safety training and implement revisions, improvements, and updates at minimum annually.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Review accident and incident reports and conduct full investigation of root cause, risk analysis, and corrective actions.
- Lead and present safety data at monthly management review meetings.
- Prepare monthly safety reports for distribution on TRIR and DART rates.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by direct report.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required
- At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment required
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct training
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Ability to travel throughout Houston area facilities as required to conduct safety inspections
- Some travel may be required to inspect facilities throughout US
