Job Description

A well-established, top-tier fabrication company is looking for a Quality Control Manager to ensure its products meet industry, company, and customer standards. The ideal candidate is an effective leader with in-depth knowledge of quality control procedures and legal standards. Reporting to the President, the new manager will drive operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and world-class quality through strategic planning, development, and implementation of processes while upholding leadership values of integrity, excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Location: Alvin, TX 77511
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain company quality standards and communicate quality standards to production teams. 
  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet standards. 
  • Record quality-related non-conformance reports.
  • Direct and execute inspection plans for all jobs.
  • In charge of job execution for H and HC jobs.   
  • Responsible for all job-related raw materials, including inventory of new and existing jobs, accuracy and known. location of materials throughout the shops.
  • Inspect the final output, comparing it to requirements and approving/rejecting the final products. 
  • Read drawings and specifications and develop Inspection Test Plans. 
  • Discuss inspection results with relevant personnel.  
  • Coordinate and assist clients with client inspection; conduct vendor surveillance. 
  • Create inspection/NDE reports as required. 
  • Certify welders per ASME qualifications.
  • Attend meetings, submit reports, and assist external auditors and inspectors.
  • Take quality photos, scan documents, and upload information to job folders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Make and distribute final data packets for customer orders. 
  • Maintain calibration and certifications records. 
  • Create and maintain all WPS and PQRs, including welders’ records.
  • Keep accurate documentation, review material test reports, and report inspection and test data. 
  • Use E2 Shoptech to create purchase orders and maintain records.  
  • Identify and provide feedback to leadership to identify pain points and improve the manufacturing process to ensure higher quality goods. 
  • Develop, improve, and review new specifications and procedures for products or processes.
  • Oversee product development procedures to identify any deviations from quality standards. 
  • Oversee Quality Control Inspectors and Material Controller; train and mentor personnel and nurture an environment where they can excel through encouragement and empowerment.
  • Provide regular informal feedback, as well as formal feedback for performance reviews, and coach for direct reports under this role’s supervision.
  • Arrive at work on-time and consistently clock in and out.
  • Understand and value other parts of the company, their roles, and work with each department effectively.
  • Execute any and all tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Observe safety procedures at all times, ensuring all company employees adhere to requirements.
  • Uphold leadership values of integrity, excellence, innovation and collaboration; display respect and a positive attitude in all interactions with the team and customers.

Requirements
  • High School Degree
  • (CWI) Certified Welding Inspector Certificate
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong fabrication knowledge is a plus
  • Desire for ongoing training and certification is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures and legal standards
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics, data analysis, and statistical methods
  • Proficient in general computer knowledge, Microsoft Office Suite of products, and other job-related software, such as E2
  • NDE Equipment Certification 
  • Strong surveillance and reporting skills 
  • Competency to read various measurement equipment / tools 
  • Able to safely use forklifts, ladders, overhead cranes 
  • Effective communication skills, including giving & taking instruction and active listening
  • Time management skills with a tendency towards multitasking
  • Ability to model, teach, and promote company’s core values of reliable quality, a partnership attitude, and attention to detail
