Job Description

A well-established independent oilfield services company is looking for a QC Mechanical Inspector II to ensure accuracy & conformance to the specifications of its packers and downhole products. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in mechanical inspection, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods & techniques. Following safety regulations, the new hire will drive operational excellence through the efficient & effective execution of processes according to quality & reliability standards.

Location: Houston, TX 77092
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
1st Shift: 6am-2:30pm

Responsibilities: 
  • Mechanically inspect all finished components and/or assemblies to blueprints using all measuring equipment; micrometer, surface plate, calipers, customer certifications, and P.O.
  • Perform first article mechanical inspection on components at various stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Assure that inspection gages and equipment are in current calibration.
  • Generate Nonconformance Reports on nonconforming components and/or assemblies.
  • Ensure that any non-conforming product is properly identified, quarantined, and communicated.
  • Maintain working knowledge of QMS documentation requirements.
  • Examine production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
  • Process documentation by completing appropriate forms and documentation.
  • Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in a related field; or 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A strong background in rubber, steel, and thread manufacturing required
  • NC, CNC, CMM, or Romer Arm experience is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision
  • Knowledge of QMS requirements
  • Highly skilled in problem solving
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to assembly of inflatable packers or related downhole tools
  • Ability to pass a test designed to demonstrate finger, hand, wrist, and arm dexterity in order to operate proper stamping identification equipment and electric buffing equipment
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word and Excel and MRP or related systems
  • Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail
