Job Description
Location: Baytown, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Salary: $30-40/hr
Responsibilities:Â
- Monitor chemical processes and test quality of hazardous and non-hazardous raw, wet, and blended material safely with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced laboratory.Â
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Perform routine calibrations, maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Manage samples and lab resources, record data, run analysis, and track workflow with a high level of accuracy.
- Ensure reliability of all day-to-day laboratory operations.Â
- Comply with all environmental, health, safety and hygiene related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).Â
- Develop laboratory processes, procedures, and best practices, and drive process improvements involving the lab.
- Maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory by following established company health, safety and chemical hygiene requirements.
- Conduct inspections and audit safety programs to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, report and escalate any issues as needed to management.
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
- Perform other laboratory related duties as required.
Requirements: Â
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific field
- Three or more years of experience working in an industrial laboratory environment or related industrial chemical manufacturing work environment
- Must have strong knowledge and understanding of analytical chemistry, chemical analysis, and the physical analysis of raw materials
- Must comprehend the calibration and operation of analytical equipment in a laboratory setting
- LIMS system set up experience and new laboratory set up experience is preferred
- Must be willing and able to work a Dupont rotating work schedule with 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends
- Mechanical aptitude and good powers of observation required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Excellent MS Office skills with advanced level proficiency in Excel
- Ability to adapt easily in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles
- Ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance related to the lab
- Must be able to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks and prioritize simultaneously
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Teams, and Laboratory Information Management System software
- Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment, perform work in tight or closed-in spaces at times with occasional exposure to various chemicals
- Ability to wear necessary personal protection equipment (PPE) like hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and other PPE required by specific jobs
- Standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25lbs. at times may be required
- Ability to tolerate stress created by interruptions, multiple tasks, and loud noises while performing duties with a high level of efficiency
