Job Description

A fast-growing ethanol company is looking for a Project Planning and Scheduling Engineer to oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of activities to maintain all equipment’s reliability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and possesses excellent critical thinking and organizational skills, with a strong understanding of planning and scheduling. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the new engineer will enhance department efficiency and work quality by proactively addressing potential delays through effective planning and coordination of labor, materials, and equipment while supporting the reduction of maintenance costs and increased uptime.

Responsibilities: 
  • Relentlessly pursue being a better-version-of-themselves.
  • Advocate reliability excellence, building, and supporting a proactive (vs. reactive) culture.
  • Leverage systems to drive behaviors. Identify the system (or lack of a system) that creates unwanted behaviors and reengineer (or engineer) the system.
  • Support reliability activities with valuable equipment history and root cause input.
  • Power-user of the CMMS. Utilize the CMMS for best-in-class work orders, scheduling, procurement, inventory management, and data analysis activities.
  • Estimate required labor hours for work.
  • Prioritize work based on a defined set of criteria.
  • Manage the Backlog, providing regular analysis and long-range planning.
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) maintenance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Support the Equipment Maintenance Plan (EMP); drive continuous, data-driven, best-in-class improvements.
  • Maintain records and files essential for meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters.
  • Audit maintenance records, addressing any deficiencies and communicating concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Apply best-in-class planning practices, developing effective job plans.
  • Prepare maintenance schedule, utilizing best-in-class practices.
  • Drive weekly Maintenance Schedule Review meeting, providing interdepartmental coordination of upcoming activities.
  • Communicate concerns with existing predictive, preventive, and routine repair maintenance programs and procedures to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Regularly communicate progress to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Support and promote a positive and cooperative team environment that fosters creative problem solving and shared learning.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental programs and regulations.
  • Provide back-up for other department personnel as needed.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager along with other duties not listed herein but which need to be accomplished to maintain safe and productive day-to-day operations within the plant. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records and company matters.
  • Ensures all local, state, and federal regulations are being met at all times.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher (from an accredited school) in the Engineering field
  • 3 years of planning and scheduling experience in a large-scale industrial continuous process manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with maintenance procedures for processing equipment such as evaporators, heat exchangers, centrifuges, drying equipment, boilers, conveyors, cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, valves, electrical circuits, and instrumentation preferred
  • Project management or project engineering experience preferred
  • Formal planning and scheduling training or relevant certifications are preferred
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • The right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
  • Strong knowledge and experience with planning and scheduling activities
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people and communicate information to obtain positive results
  • Strong continuous improvement mentality
  • Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance processes
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • In-depth CMMS experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • General knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for construction and manufacturing
