Job Description

A Chemical manufacturing company is looking for a Project Engineer responsible for coordinating current and future projects. The ideal candidate is an AutoCAD expert who knows chemicals and process equipment designs. Working closely with the Plant Manager and VP of Operations, the new team member will increase operational efficiency through effective communication and collaboration while maintaining compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

Location: Pittsburgh, CA
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain P&IDs, equipment specs, and SOPs.
  • Create specifications for equipment.
  • Obtain permits when needed to complete construction projects.
  • Oversee and monitor construction and installation of equipment and processes.
  • Report directly to VP of Engineering.
  • Understand and know how to comply with DOT, FRA, EPA, and OSHA laws.
  • Interface with vendors.
  • Interface with employees to facilitate startup of equipment and processes.
  • Assist in site surveys and design a dose system for a specific project.
  • Provide the technical documents, specifications, drawings, data sheets, submittals, and other technical information for use internally and outside our company.
  • Generate Bill of Materials, specific component designs, and other information to get costs through purchasing and to estimate projects for the development of proposals.
  • Assist the sales group in writing the overall proposal incorporating the technical proposals by providing options and custom design elements.
  • Write SOPs and train employees on new operations.

Requirements:
  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management· Experience with DOT, OSHA, HAZMAT, and all related safety regulations
  • Experience with chemicals and the design of process equipment and piping
  • Experience with AutoCAD and creating P&IDs
  • Experience with instrumentation is a huge plus
  • Experience with production of bulk liquid chemicals preferred
  • Specific experience with HCL, Sulfuric acid, Caustic, and other water treatment chemicals is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Good technical writing skills
  • 50% Travel Required
