Job Description

An international producer & supplier of industrial products is looking for a Production Process Engineer to enhance and streamline manufacturing processes to achieve production objectives and standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in production processes in a manufacturing setting and attention to detail. Collaborating with the team, the new member will enhance operational efficiency by developing and implementing strategies for process enhancement, ensuring that all products adhere to the highest quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities: 
  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs. 
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with product development teams to ensure that new products are designed for manufacturability. Provide input on design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to drive ongoing enhancements to manufacturing processes.
  • Production Support: Provide technical support to production teams to troubleshoot issues, resolve manufacturing problems, and minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers to improve the quality and reliability of incoming materials and components. Participate in supplier audits and evaluations as needed.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with relevant safety regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the production environment.
  • Training: Train production personnel on new processes, equipment, and techniques. Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure that manufacturing teams are equipped to meet production targets and quality goals. 
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to manufacturing processes to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. Use data-driven insights to drive decision-making and process optimization. 
  • Perform other projects/duties as assigned for the overall benefit of the organization.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering) or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.) may be preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering role, preferably in a relevant industry (e.g., mechanical industry, manufacturing background in fiberglass industry preferred)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, welding, and/or chemical processes
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, statistical process control)
  • Familiarity with CAD software and/or product lifecycle management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload effectively
  • Ability to work well within a cross-functional team environment
