Production Process Engineer

Job Description
Salary + Additional Benefits:

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with product development teams to ensure that new products are designed for manufacturability. Provide input on design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to drive ongoing enhancements to manufacturing processes.
- Production Support: Provide technical support to production teams to troubleshoot issues, resolve manufacturing problems, and minimize downtime.
- Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers to improve the quality and reliability of incoming materials and components. Participate in supplier audits and evaluations as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with relevant safety regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the production environment.
- Training: Train production personnel on new processes, equipment, and techniques. Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure that manufacturing teams are equipped to meet production targets and quality goals.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to manufacturing processes to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. Use data-driven insights to drive decision-making and process optimization.
- Perform other projects/duties as assigned for the overall benefit of the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering) or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.) may be preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering role, preferably in a relevant industry (e.g., mechanical industry, manufacturing background in fiberglass industry preferred)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, welding, and/or chemical processes
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, statistical process control)
- Familiarity with CAD software and/or product lifecycle management
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload effectively
- Ability to work well within a cross-functional team environment
