Job Description

An independent oilfield services company is seeking a Potting Operator to perform specialized assembly and potting operations for downhole tools. The ideal candidate is a mechanically inclined professional with experience in epoxy injection, material handling, and interpreting technical drawings. Working with minimal supervision, the new team member will support efficient tool production by operating potting and lifting equipment, following engineering specifications, and maintaining traceability standards while upholding safety, quality, and ISO 9001 compliance.
                       
Salary: $17-20/hr
Location: Houston, TX 77092
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Hours: M-F 1st Shift (6 am-2:30 pm)

Responsibilities:
  • Operate the sandblaster, lifting devices and overhead crane according to guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of o-rings and other supplies for potting operations.
  • Assemble component parts and seals prior to injecting epoxy resin.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, engineering specifications and written process procedures.
  • Interpret and follow posted production schedules.
  • Work with labor and materials traceability documentation and guidelines, such as ISO 9001.
  • Work with electronic labor reporting / job progress scanning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements:
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school and/or minimum of three to five years related experience as outlined above with prior assembly experience as well as material handling preferred
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to machining of inflatable packers or related downhole tools
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write and/or complete routine reports
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
