Job Description

A global company is seeking a Global Payroll Supervisor to lead the delivery of accurate, compliant, and efficient global payroll services. The ideal candidate is a seasoned payroll professional with extensive international experience and a strong background in vendor management and compliance. Working collaboratively, the new leader will ensure payroll accuracy by driving performance improvements while maintaining robust controls, enhancing the employee experience, and supporting a global, dynamic workforce.

Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Manage accurate and reliable payroll services for employees across global locations, including expatriate staff, ensuring consistent achievement of all service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead and oversee the coordination with external payroll providers to meet service requirements.
  • Guide and mentor the payroll team to ensure they are versatile and capable of supporting all stages of the employee life cycle, assisting in workload management during high-demand periods.
  • Serve as a role model for outstanding customer service, emphasizing the importance of putting employees first and fostering a culture of excellence in customer experience.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements in payroll and HR data processes, including the automation of payroll data collection, organization, and submission to external providers.
  • Support payroll-related projects, contributing expertise to initiatives aimed at standardizing payroll services across various locations.
  • Act as a point of escalation and subject matter expert for payroll-related issues, ensuring a thorough review and resolution of any concerns and taking responsibility for satisfactory outcomes.
  • Provide data and insights related to payroll compliance processes and overall payroll performance.
  • Participate in and ensure thorough auditing of payroll processes to guarantee compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders and employees to mitigate payroll-related issues and manage expectations where necessary.
  • Collaborate with the broader HR function to understand business needs and deliver effective payroll services.
  • Work closely with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with relevant Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) processes, participating in SOX reviews as needed.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to ensure effective management of company compensation and benefit programs.
  • Uphold high standards of compliance, maintaining accurate employee and HR records in accordance with data protection regulations and company policies.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in HR or payroll operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role within a multinational organization, including extensive experience managing international payrolls and strong knowledge of best practices and HR processes.
  • Proven experience working with and driving performance from third-party payroll service providers.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in key global markets.
  • Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proactive in anticipating service needs and taking appropriate action, escalating when necessary.
  • Experienced supervisor, skilled in coaching individuals to achieve high performance.
  • Deep understanding of the employee experience, relationship management, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Familiarity with HRMS and payroll-related software.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable engaging with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Skilled at synthesizing critical, detailed information and leveraging it to enhance payroll performance.
  • Proven ability to meet performance targets consistently.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and empathy when interacting with both internal and external customers.
  • Resilient and able to manage peak activity levels and challenging situations effectively.
  • Embrace change while staying focused on areas that can be influenced or improved.
  • Solution-oriented with a proactive mindset and a ‘can do’ attitude, able to deliver services efficiently with agility and practicality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong customer service focus.
  • Experience delivering processes in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and SOX controls.
  • Experience working within the payroll function of an offshore drilling company is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hybrid shared service models and managing third-party suppliers is preferred.
  • Experience with integrating automation (such as RPA) into core payroll processes is a plus.
