Job Description

A fast-growing industrial solutions-based company is looking for an Operations Manager to provide proactive operational leadership, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost to exceed customer expectations while maximizing efficiency. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with in-depth knowledge of production operations management and excellent planning, analytical, and communication skills. Working cross-functionally, the new OM will meet/exceed operational and financial objectives through effective leadership and accountability while ensuring safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, productivity, and world-class customer service.

Location: N. Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement procedures, processes, and equipment changes to better increase plant efficiency.
  • Exercise financial planning and control by exercising control of raw material usage, labor costs, product yields, and operating supplies.
  • Direct and in-direct supervision of all operational employees.
  • Ensure staff has adequate training with a focus on safety, quality, and on time delivery.
  • Coordinate maintenance and equipment needs for the plant and the facility.
  • Optimize inventory levels to meet production and financial requirements.
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure raw material and products meet quality standards.
  • Responsible for basic testing of raw materials, in process products and finished goods at a high level of throughput using the required methodology and according to specified quality guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate inventories counts are always maintained resulting in successful and timely daily/ /monthly/quarterly/year end closings.
  • Complete/assist in the preparation of capital expenditure budget as it pertains to the plant.
  • Implement capital projects as needed to support manufacturing activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and report on a periodic basis a set of key performance indicators (KPI's) and monitor department progress in achieving desired results.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or other related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in a chemical plant environment; 7+ years preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience supervising salaried and hourly employees; 7+ years preferred
  • Production operations management experience essential
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong leadership skills with integrity
  • Ability to foster a team environment and coach employees
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and communication skills
  • Previous interaction with customers would be an advantage
