Job Description

A leading provider of rigging rental, weighing, and testing services in the heavy-lift industry is seeking a Mechanical Technician to set up, maintain, and operate mechanical systems for specialized projects. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical skills along with experience in rigging and weight measurement systems. Guided by the Superintendent or Foreman, the new team member will drive operational excellence by efficiently managing equipment preparation and maintenance, ensuring safe and effective project execution at various locations.

Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in JSEA, permit to work, SIMOPS, and safety briefings.
  • Safely complete all work tasks per superintendent instructions, worksite specific guidelines, and approved procedures and manuals such as repairs, commissioning, FAT/SIT testing, operating procedures, OEM guidelines, and company specific QMS equipment checklists.
  • Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings and hydraulic schematic diagrams.
  • Complete maintenance and service logs as required for all equipment.
  • Repair, maintain, and adjust equipment, utilizing hand tools and schematic drawings for a project such as: winches, cylinders, hoses, control panels, HPUs, air compressors, etc.
  • Use mechanically assisted lifting equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and cherry pickers, safely relocate, or install equipment as required for SOW.
  • Attach, fasten, and disconnect rigging to loads of materials and equipment per approved engineered drawing and lift plans.
  • Spool and unspool ropes onto drum winches.
  • Pour spelter socket on winch wire ropes and slings.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain hydraulic power units, winches, and other equipment in accordance with applicable procedures and industry guidelines.
  • Manually operate equipment levers in order to stop, start, and regulate speeds of hoist or winch drums via hand signals and/or radio instructions at projects locations, both onshore and offshore.
  • Observe equipment gauges and indicators and hand signals of other workers in order to verify safe operation and load positions and/or depths.
  • Operate hydraulic jacks and load cells per engineered weighing plans and procedures to obtain certified weights and Centers of Gravity (CoG).
  • Uphold company quality management systems and safety management systems in all areas of work, notably non-conformance report processes and Stop Work Authority.
