Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Responsibilities:Â
- Assist in the mechanical design and selection of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, fans, motors) in line with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO)
- Support review of fabrication drawings, welding procedures, and inspection plans under guidance of senior engineers
- Help ensure compliance with ANSI B31.3 piping standards and ASTM material specifications
- Contribute to the design and optimization of steam reformer systems and associated mechanical components
- Assist in maintaining and updating P&IDs to reflect accurate process system integration
- Participate in development of preventive maintenance strategies and reliability planning
- Help generate and review engineering deliverables such as datasheets, specifications, and drawings
- Support review of vendor documents and technical submissions for compliance
- Collaborate with EPC contractors, fabricators, and suppliers under supervision
- Provide technical assistance during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases
- Assist in vibration analysis and condition monitoring efforts
- Assist in troubleshooting design and engineering challenges
- Demonstrate initiative and curiosity in solving technical problems
- Stay informed on emerging technologies in syngas, hydrogen production, and carbon capture
- Apply analytical thinking to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Help generate and review engineering deliverables such as datasheets, specifications, and drawings
- Support review of vendor documents and technical submissions for compliance
- Collaborate with EPC contractors, fabricators, and suppliers under supervision
- Provide technical assistance during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases
- Assist in vibration analysis and condition monitoring efforts
Requirements:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s preferred
- 2-3Â years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably with exposure to rotating equipment, pressure vessels, steam systems, or P&ID development
- Preferred experience:
- Experience in hydrogen, syngas, or petrochemical plant operations
- Familiarity with reliability engineering or rotating machinery diagnostics
- Exposure to industry codes such as API 610, ASME Section VIII, ANSI B31.3
- Experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA)Â
- Basic understanding of ANSI, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, and API standards (e.g., 610, 617)
- Exposure to P&ID drafting and interpretation
- Familiarity with steam systems, pressure vessels, and high-temperature materials
- Willingness to learn and apply industry codes and standards in real-world applications
- Proficient in English (read, write, speak) with strong written and verbal communication
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
