Job Description
A leading provider of production equipment and oilfield tubular goods is looking for a Mechanical Designer to design products from the initial concept stage through production. The ideal candidate has a strong aptitude for design & problem-solving and is well-versed in Solidworks design software. Working closely with the Project Managers and Engineers, the new member will positively impact the business by effectively collaborating and implementing processes with the highest level of creativity & accuracy while maintaining cost-efficiency and quality standards.

Responsibilities:
- Design products from initial concept stage through to production in a professional and time efficient manner.
- Produce Solidworks 3D Models and Detail Drawings to provide solutions in accordance with design and specifications’ requirements.
- Create shop level fabrication drawings from information provided by Engineer, following company standards and customer specifications.
- Prepare assembly and detailed models under direction of the Application Engineer.
- Prepare Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s).
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Dimensional surveys and preparing “As Built” Drawings.
- Liaise with Project Managers and Engineers and assist in interpreting project requirements.
- Assist in the development of company design systems, standards, and procedures.
- Contribute development ideas for new and existing products.
- Support work for proposals and projects working to tight deadlines.
- Perform engineering check and drafting check of drawings, update, and revise drawings.
- Participate in design reviews, where required.
- Continuously monitor the design/drafting progress and report to PM.
- Review and redline Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, and design drawings.
- Develop accessory list; identify long lead items.
- Organize approval process of documents as required between departments.
- Create and maintain part numbering for parts in ERP system.
- Responsible to make quick quality checks on deliverables being released to customers or manufacturing.
- Provide estimating support for RFQ (create instrument and valve list, gather ERP pricing); work closely with project management and sales to ensure the technical aspects of the estimate are accurate.
- Proactively anticipate the problems / issues / risks during execution of the project and mitigate before they occur.
Requirements:
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings (Process Flow Diagrams, General Arrangement, P&ID, Pressure Vessel, Piping, etc.)
- Good problem-solving skills; define/understand the problem, identify constraints, work towards the best possible solution
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work outside in manufacturing, field processing, and production site atmospheres
- Ability to effectively apply Industry Codes and Standards; ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 Pressure Vessels, ASME B31.3 Piping, AWS, API, ASTM, NACE, OSHA, etc.)
- Ability and experience to design for cost effective fabrication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Solidworks design software
- Working knowledge and applied experience with NACE MR0175 is a plus
- Knowledge of structural skid packages is a plus
- Knowledge of COMPRESS vessel code software is a plus
