Job Description

A leading global manufacturer of control and safety solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes and improve operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise in assembly methods, process control, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Operations Director, the new team member will enhance operational efficiency by streamlining manufacturing processes, driving quality standards, and implementing process improvements while maintaining safety and cost-effectiveness.

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities: 
  • Drive Continuous Process Improvement activities throughout the assembly process using statistical techniques and applying lean methodology.
  • Support Engineering Product Introductions and existing production lines providing direction for the organization on assembly techniques for the best cost/quality method. 
  • Investigate assembly issues and identify root cause / corrective actions that are needed. Evaluate Rework and Reject levels for design, process, and training improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for optimum efficiency and safety.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Develop and evaluate equipment and processes to produce a high-quality product at a competitive cost.
  • Conduct production feasibility reviews; generate assembly instructions and tooling.
  • Provide technical direction, training and certification for operators performing detailed process steps to ensure that production assemblers, testers, inspectors, and support staff have the necessary skills, appropriate documentation, tooling, and process control capability. 
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. 
  • Institute process and product improvements resulting in a positive impact on production cycle time, product costs, and product quality.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other team members regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  •  Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
  • Work independently and employ effective time management skills.
  • Overtime as required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Field and 3-5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent PC and Microsoft Office skills
  • Technical knowledge of production feasibility concepts, process control, quality specifications, mechanical assembly techniques, and continuous improvement methods
  • Electrical Assembly and Testing Experience
  • Supporting soldering and wire crimping processes is desired
  • Must have an understanding of statistics
  • Proficient in data analysis identifying patterns or trends
  • Hand-on mindset and approach
  • Knowledge of Assembly methods and process control 
  • Knowledge of Machining
