Job Description

A pioneer in the grating industry is seeking a Maintenance Multi-craft Electrical Technician to repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment. The ideal candidate is skilled in troubleshooting and experienced with a variety of production machinery. With excellent organizational skills, the new team member will enhance operational efficiency by ensuring equipment is well-maintained and functioning optimally while minimizing downtime and supporting a safe work environment.

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Hours: 7am-3pm or 3pm -11pm M-F


Responsibilities:
  • Primarily responsible for the repair, preventive maintenance, and installation of new machinery.
  • Repair and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, computer-controlled systems, and production machines and equipment.
  • Adjust and calibrate automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, operate efficiently, and the physical condition does not deteriorate.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery, perform basic diagnostic tests, check performance, and test damaged machine parts to determine whether major repairs are necessary.
  • Perform job functions using safe work practices; required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations as well as participate in the overall safety effort.
  • Obtain supplies and repair parts from distributors or storerooms.
  • Trace and test circuits and equipment for faulty operation.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, adjust and/or replace faulty parts or wiring as required. Reassemble, test, and adjust equipment for safe and proper operation.
  • Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures.
  • Perform work to conform to existing codes where required, as instructed.
  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to be On Call as needed

Requirements:
  • High school education; 2-year associate degree program at community or technical college desired
  • Vocational school courses in mathematics and geometry, blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, metalworking, drafting, and quality and safety practices are highly recommended
  • 5-7 years related industrial experience
  • Thorough knowledge of hydraulic and fluid systems, advanced electrical circuitry, and competent knowledge of PLC control systems
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
  • Use of common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized and precision measuring equipment and electronic testing devices
  • Ability to understand, edit, and troubleshoot PLC programs
  • Direct logic PLCs is a plus
  • Knowledge of servo hydraulic systems and positioning transducers
  • Able to work on electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Able to work around high current resistance welding equipment
  • Ability to weld and fabricate
  • Understanding of basic machining for mechanical repairs
  • Strong computer skills
  • Able to work in AutoCAD
  • Ability to work in boom lift for crane inspection and repair
  • Knowledge of powder coating
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and understand processes to assist machine operators with setup and operation of the equipment
