Job Description

A leading pipe manufacturing company in the oil & gas industry is looking for a Machine Shop Manager responsible for all functions of its machine shop. The ideal candidate is a threading expert who is mechanically inclined and familiar with CNC lathes & tooling. Reporting to the GM of Operations, the new leader will positively impact the business by maximizing productivity while ensuring continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

Location: Midland, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Manage machine shop operations and prepare report of activities.
  • Coordinate jobs and assure smooth paperwork flow.
  • Write and prove out new programs.
  • Set up program and/or check each job.
  • Work with GM on promotion or termination decisions.
  • Manage purchase of material for machine shop maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate with vendors on machine shop repairs, maintenance, and/or new installations.
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance.
  • Manage Machine Shop employees and approve times.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent                          
  • Supervisory experience                
  • 2-5 years of threading experience                                           
  • Familiarity with CNC lathes and tooling                                  
  • Understanding of computers                         
  • Ability to create CNC Programs from drawings
  • Familiarity with the use of various thread gauges
  • Able to work around solvents
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Preferred experience includes:
  • College Degree
  • 5-7 years of thread experience
  • CNC programming school
  • Familiarity with API specification 5B
  • Familiarity with proprietary OCTG connections
