Maintenance Technician

Job Description
Salary: $24-26/hr
Location: Galveston, TX 77554
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Drive from location to location.
- Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, circuit breakers, and switches).
- Replace rotting deck boards, broken siding and railings.
- Replace toilets, faucets and valves.
- Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed.
- Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace doors, etc.).
- Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide.
- Conduct general upkeep procedures and other tasks (painting, carpentry, etc.).
- Replace broken bed frames.
- Repair holes in the walls.
- Repair broken wood trim and vinyl flooring.
- Replace faulty thermostats.
- Troubleshoot faulty appliance parts.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- HVAC experience (at least 1 year)
- Maintenance experience required (at least 3 years)
- Driver's License Required
- HVAC EPA Certification (preferred)
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Ability to lift heavy equipment
- Ability to work in harsh weather conditions
