Job Description

A leading design and fabrication company is seeking a Fitter Helper to support fitters and fabricators in the assembly, preparation, and movement of structural components and materials. The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on individual with basic fabrication knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced industrial environment. Working under general supervision, this role supports production by assisting with fit-up preparation, material handling, and general fabrication tasks while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Salary: $19–21/hr – DOE
Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Hours: 2nd Shift 2:00 pm–10:00 pm

Responsibilities:
  • Assist fitters and fabricators with the assembly of structural components using hand tools and power tools.
  • Help measure, mark, and prepare materials according to blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Support material preparation, including cleaning surfaces and setting up components for welding.
  • Assist with cutting, grinding, and basic fabrication tasks as directed.
  • Help move, lift, and position materials and components safely using proper equipment and procedures.
  • Support fit-up and general shop activities to help maintain production flow.
  • Read and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety and quality procedures at all times.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in construction, fabrication, or manufacturing preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Familiarity with blueprints, measurements, and basic fabrication processes preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn from experienced team members
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting materials and working in industrial environments
  • Forklift or rigging experience is a plus, but not required
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to safety
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
