Job Description

A leading company in the waste industry is seeking an IT Manager to oversee and optimize all IT operations across its U.S. business. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, solutions-driven professional with strong troubleshooting skills and experience managing external vendors. Working collaboratively, the new team member will enhance technology performance by maintaining reliable systems, managing IT projects, and supporting cross-functional initiatives while ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, develop, and contribute to IT security standards and controls. This includes implementation of processes, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with policies and current legislation.
  • Lead projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services. 
  • Monitor performance of all systems to determine cost and productivity levels and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Responsible for the management, design, installation, and monitoring of network systems, including routers switches, and firewalls.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on company hardware and software.
  • Monitor systems to maintain a high level of stability and availability.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and fault resolution.
  • Manage external support partners to improve service levels, providing regular reports against KPI’s and costs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and documentation for the configuration of the IT infrastructure.
  • Help to automate and streamline complex processes.

Requirements:                
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a customer-facing role, able to explain complex technical concepts
  • Demonstrable programming experience (i.e., scripting for server management tasks)
  • Troubleshooting full-stack production systems (including network, storage, compute layers, and service dependencies such as DNS, DB, etc.
  • Experience working with Multiple sites / Locations
  • Mobile device and application management platforms
  • Threat and Vulnerability Management
  • Perimeter network protection
  • Security Information and Event Management
  • Broad experience in the design and implementation across IT systems
  • Good technical experience of Server and Laptop / Desktop security platforms and associated compliance standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • High levels of IT literacy
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Up to 10-15% Travel
