Job Description

A leading international multi-channel Japanese food business is looking for a Human Resource Business Partner to drive its people culture and support the development of its teams and franchisees across the country. The ideal candidate is an exceptional leader & coach who thoroughly understands employee relations and employment law & legislation. Working closely with the Operations Team, the new HRBP will accelerate business growth and people development by effectively implementing best practices aligned with departmental strategies & policies while upholding organizational values.

Responsibilities:
  • Influence and challenge our Operators, constantly identifying opportunities for us to make a difference as an employer and improve our practices across the board, enabling the business to accelerate growth and develop our people alongside.
  • Accountable for the recruitment of our Franchisees and Support Team, will lead frontline HR support, alongside managing casework and leading decision-making on complex issues. Ultimately taking accountability for every part of the employee journey and ensure we offer the best possible experiences for our Franchisees and Teams.
  • Partner with Leadership to align HR strategy to business strategy.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support and execution of strategies for the Operations Team.
  • Implement HR best practices for key HR processes, including performance management, compensation planning, workforce/capability planning, and talent management.
  • Manage and resolve complex HR issues, guiding the team through policy and interpretation.
  • Work closely with the VP and VP of HR to design and deliver a comprehensive kiosk openings program, ensuring our people are at the heart of everything we do.
  • You will keep up to date with key legislation changes and make recommendations for adapting current policy to ensure we are always legal and compliant.
  • Provide brilliant coaching and mentoring to the management population on how to lead and inspire our Franchisees and Support teams.
  • Conduct a full review of current HR practices to see what we can do to be slicker and more cost-effective.
  • Work with the Director of Training to ensure every franchisee is trained brilliantly and robust onboarding and training procedures are in place.
  • Support the Recruitment Team in the recruitment strategy, thinking outside of the box to create and deliver exciting new initiatives focused on talent attraction and reducing turnover.
  • Embed a seamless communication program where the franchisees and teams are regularly listened to and engaged with the aim of creating a brilliant working environment, where everyone feels trusted, respected, and listened to with the aim of improving retention.
  • Work alongside the Director of Training, to identify training/coaching/mentoring needs for the Area Support teams.
  • Provide counsel and drive execution on workforce planning and organizational design.

Requirements:
  • Experience in business partnering within a similar multisite environment, ideally in retail.
  • A true HR Generalist
  • Solid understanding of US employment law and experience in handling a range of complex employee relations cases.
  • Previous experience in managing volume recruiting, preferably within the Franchisee field
  • Proven track record of building rapport and establishing trust with Operations Teams, comfortable to challenge, with the ability to influence
  • Experience in managing, mentoring, and developing junior HR colleagues.
  • A consultative and considered approach, balancing the commercial needs of our business with the needs of our people
  • A flexible approach – you'll need to be fluid and adaptable to our company's changing priorities and needs
  • An expert communicator: you are a confident, articulate, and persuasive speaker, as well as an empathic listener
  • A collaborative team player, with a willingness to pitch in when needed on various initiatives and projects
