Job Description
A leading global technology-focused venture capital firm is looking for a highly motivated Fund Accountant to support its finance team in accounting, financial reporting, audit, and tax functions. The ideal candidate is an accounting expert with high levels of intelligence, internal drive, intellectual inquisitiveness, and analytical ability.
Salary + Additional Benefits:

Location: Austin, TX 78703
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the monthly, quarterly, and annual investment valuation process for consistency with GAAP and the private placement memorandum, and prepare reporting for the quarterly Valuation Committee.
- Participate in portfolio update calls with the Trading Desk and lead calls with valuation agents during the investment valuation process.
- Manage day-to-day fund accounting responsibilities, including preparing daily analysis of fund product/desk trading position/profit and loss and firm management reports and contributing to the monthly estimate process.
- Assist in managing the monthly NAV process with the administrator to ensure timely completion of NAV closes.
- Assist in the preparation and review of regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements, including investor snapshots, marketing materials, regulatory reporting, and other requests from the front office and investor relations.
- Manage the year-end audit and tax-related requests and queries at interim and year-end as well as review of the financial statements prepared by our fund administrators.
- Participate in the Asset Diligence group during various life cycles of an investment.
- Recommend, develop, and implement new practices, procedures, and systems to improve operating efficiency, reporting capabilities, and internal control.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance or Accounting
- 2-5 years of relevant experience - combined public accounting with Venture Capital/Fund of Fund clients and/ or direct hands-on accounting experience at a Venture Capital/Fund of Fund Firm
- CPA or experience in a similar accounting or finance function in asset management prefered
- Strong background in accounting for alternative investment funds
- Understanding of portfolio fund and portfolio company valuations
- Proactive, detail oriented, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analysis, and judgement skills
- Deliver accurate and timely work product within specified timelines
- Ability to work independently when needed but also thrive in a team environment
- Fast learner willing to embrace the hands-on nature of the role with an eagerness to learn
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows suite (advanced Excel is a plus)
