Job Description

A well-established project development and management company is looking for a Field Project Controls Manager to oversee its greenfield project’s scheduling and cost control functions. The successful candidate is an excellent communicator who knows project control functions and is familiar with Ares Prism or Ecosys modules. Working cross-functionally, the new leader will ensure maximum business excellence by effectively implementing project control processes while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively impact various areas of cost and scheduling through successful planning, development, and coordination.
  • Manage all site scheduling and cost control functions for large, extensive greenfield refining, and rail project.
  • Work with Project Controls Manager, Planner/Schedulers, Cost, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to assess work scope, EPC schedules, manpower plans, resource requirements, and progress reporting.
  • Assist with monitoring subcontract progress payments / site purchase order activity.
  • When necessary, provide analysis, recommendations (including corrective action and project execution alternatives) and effective forecasting related to plans, schedules, resource requirements, manhour expenditures, and physical progress.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings.
  • Effectively communicate project control related data to Project Controls team in Houston, Construction Management on site, Clients, and Subcontractors.
  • As required, assist with Project Change Management activities, Cost Control Forecasting, Invoicing reviews, and Material Control duties.
  • Assess the schedules that are being developed by the contractors.
  • Review the progressing report submitted by the contractors.
  • Walk down the site to confirm the progress being reported.
  • Monitor the changes that are being identified and provide input on the disposition.
  • Address RFI review and impact to cost or schedule.
  • Maintain a Master Control Schedule (MCS) by area that provides an overview and direction of the project.
  • Establish milestone and monitor the progress against each.
  • Support site manager in developing weekly meeting docs (look ahead schedule, manpower plans, work accomplished and not achieved, etc.).
  • Monitor the equipment utilization and rental charges

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in the engineering, procurement, and construction industry OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Someone who has knowledge of how Capital projects are executed.
  • Hands on experience with Primavera P6 and ability to analyze schedules.
  • Familiar with Ares Prism or Ecosys modules
  • Previous experience of performing project control functions during detail engineering and site execution
  • Require excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various levels of management and employees, while maintaining high ethical and professional standards
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must utilize thorough knowledge of project controls engineering software systems, principles, and practices while maintaining ability, creativity, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems
