Job Description

A well-established independent oilfield services company is looking for an FR Lathe Operator to set up and operate elastomer lathe machinery for FREECAPS. The ideal candidate understands machine control interfaces and data entry systems & processes. Working effectively, the new team member will meet/exceed production goals through efficient execution of work instructions while maintaining quality & safety standards.

Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities: 
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations, and/or set up requirements.
  • Secure the elastomer to be used per drawing or S/O.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions.
  • Adjust control settings to regulate various machining factors such as speed and thickness.
  • Produce and gauge a variety of elastomer compounds.
  • Verify conformance of finished elastomer to ensure that it meets specifications.
  • Confer with production personnel, engineers, or others to resolve elastomer or machinery issues.
  • Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school or a minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Ability to work under a minimum of supervision in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic to intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word, Excel, ERP, and MRP systems
  • Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and equipment manuals, production reports, and schedules
  • Ability to give full attention when others are talking taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions at appropriate times, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Ability to legibly write and complete routine reports, logs, or forms
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to deal with a variety of complex variables to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
