Job Description

A leading manufacturing company specializing in drilling equipment solutions is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations and support product development initiatives. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on engineering leader with strong design and team management experience. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Product Management, the new hire will support business objectives by coordinating engineering resources, improving processes, and ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery of engineering solutions while supporting continuous improvement and cross-functional alignment.

Location: Conroe, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day engineering operations, including task assignment, workload balancing, and delivery tracking.
  • Ensure engineering projects are executed in accordance with established technical standards and priorities.
  • Track schedules, risks, and dependencies; escalate issues appropriately.
  • Manage engineering capacity across disciplines and provide coaching.
  • Coordinate engineering execution with product management, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables align with product roadmaps and release plans defined by the director.
  • Improve engineering processes and workflows.
  • Ensure design reviews, calculations, and validations are done and on time.
  • Provide new design ideas to stay ahead of the market, and provide innovative new designs and concepts, and support execution and implementation, as well as produce designs.
  • Plan and establish engineering schedules and follow up performance against estimates.
  • Define tools and standards for teams of mechanical engineers.
  • Track priorities and conduct performance reviews to ensure effective working processes.
  • Oversee mechanical engineers who are involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
  • Responsible for designing new products throughout the project life cycle, from concept planning to validation.
  • Coordinate with sustaining engineering and ensure efficient transition from R&D to production series.
  • Responsible for supporting products during manufacturing and in the field.
  • Conduct product analysis and propose new design ideas and design improvements.
  • Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of material for manufacturability of weldments and assemblies.
  • Review and approve the design of junior engineers.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or as deemed sufficient by management
  • Strong design background; Strong mechanical engineering and design experience
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, and product development
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Strong organizational/ task tracking skills. Able to manage priorities for multiple assignments
  • Hydraulic and electrical knowledge
  • Able to manage resources
  • Software – CAD software proficiency (CAD and SOLIDWORKS)
  • 7+ years of experience or as deemed sufficient by management
  • Field experience is preferred. Experience with drilling equipment
