Job Description

An independent oilfield services company is seeking a Drafter to create detailed designs and layouts for various components and systems. The ideal candidate is experienced in using solid modeling software and has a background in manufacturing or related industries. Working with minimal supervision, the new team member will drive business efficiency by producing accurate designs based on specifications while ensuring timely project completion and maintaining quality standards.
        
Pay: $26-30/hr DOE
Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities: 
  • Make detail drawings/assemblies/layouts of the final designs. 
  • Dispatch drawings or engineering corrections, through existing approval processes to the receiving party. 
  • Coordinate required filing or sorting of engineering products, to include drawings, with the assistance of the administrative support person or other engineering personnel. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 
  • Keep desk and work area clean and orderly.

Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in packers, downhole tools or related oilfield equipment preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of a solid modeling program is required (Solid Works preferred)
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision in a general office setting
  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks or similar solid modeling program and intermediate knowledge of MS Office software to include Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with computer networks and e-mail systems
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
