Job Description

An established company focused on infrastructure assets is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to oversee the risk management of chemical plant enhancements, daily operations, and on-site process consistency and safety. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of process engineering and technological concepts. Collaborating with the team, the new member will develop and implement strategies for process enhancement, focusing on efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and safety, all in alignment with the company's established procedures.

Type of Position: Direct Hire


Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to operations and ensure short-term and long-term objectives for the plant are met successfully.
  • Champion process optimization, troubleshoot, and resolve complex operational and process issues. 
  • Work with Ops Manager and all levels of employees onsite to deliver new, innovative, safe, and reliable performance solutions and production process improvements.  
  • Translate guidelines and standards into practice, troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues, and recommend cost-effective solutions to elevate the business. 
  • Design and modify process flow diagrams (PFD), process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) drawings.
  • Perform process modeling, hydraulic calculations, and simulations.
  • Develop instrument data and specification sheets, and complete documentation for the work performed onsite in the plant.
  • Facilitate client hazard and operability reviews, hazard analysis review process, and lead cross-functional project team efforts to mitigate risk.
  • Identify and evaluate start-up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating liability, reduce manufacturing costs and energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve product yields, and product quality. 
  • Support annual turnaround event and all major maintenance activities performed onsite.
  • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).

Requirements:
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find a solution for or deal proactively with work-related problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
  • Fundamental knowledge of chemical manufacturing equipment and components used on 24/7 continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, vendors, and colleagues throughout the organization.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to exceed strategic departmental goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of how to use and troubleshoot a distributed control system (DCS), Honeywell system.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment drawings, safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines.
  • Must have a strong understanding of properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Five years of experience providing engineering support to a continuous processing plant within the chemical/petrochemical industry.
  • Strong leadership skills are required to oversee projects with a thorough understanding of engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in process engineering and technology principles.
  • Previous experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities preferred.
